Gingerbread Houses

Our Gingerbread House party did not happen this year. My mom and I were just too busy to organize a day to have a party. So we made some last minute plans to make some Gingerbread Houses.

Jillian had a great time! I helped by spreading the frosting and she did the decorating part. My friend Sydney joined us for the first time and made a beautiful house!

Here are some pictures of Jillian’s house… ( I got to finish decorating mine during their naps later in the day, no picture was taken)

Pumpkin Patch!

We visited the pumpkin patch today! Grandma and Auntie Bre joined us too! I love the pumpkin part of Halloween. I love picking a perfect pumpkin and turning it into a work of art! The past two years we’ve gone to San Luis Obispo to get cheaper pumpkins. This year the trip couldn’t happen because Olivia hates the car, and a 5 hour car ride of screaming would not be a good weekend! We settled for Pumpkin City by the mall. It worked out because one of my co-workers  gave me her extra tickets. Jillian rode the little train and absolutely loved it! We still have extra tickets so I’m sure we’ll be returning one of these days. She also rode a pony for the first time. She had a blast!

The March and other things :)

Yesterday I joined a few friends in LA to march for Education! We were a little scared when we showed up because there were some crazy people that came out of the woodworks. It was an experience I’m glad I had! It was interesting to see all the different types of people that joined the rally. We saw this group dressed in Native American dance outfits, feathers galore! We also saw strange performing arts people dancing down the street. The rally ended up in front of the state building in downtown LA with a line of speakers. There were some strange radical groups that started getting rowdy so we decided it was time to leave.

We wore our signs to and from Lacey’s place. One of the signs said, “cuts hurt kids.”  A police car pulled up next to us and the cop in the passenger side pointed to a band-aid and said, “I got cut.” haha I love being a girl. After the march we had Shabu Shabu for dinner. It was delicious and worth the wait! We hung out until about 10:30 ish. I was sure I would make it home in no time at all! LA traffic decided otherwise! It was awful, I hate being stuck in traffic. I didn’t make it home until midnight and I walked in on a starving baby, poor Adrian. Olivia didn’t make it easy for him.

Today was a pretty easy day at home. I took Jillian around the block in her little push car. She loves riding around in it and it is so much easier now that we have a handle! Jillian has also discovered that she loves coloring with chalk! We played outside today chalking up the driveway. She’s very cute because she asks me to draw very specific things. It’s usually Elmo, a dog, and a cat.

Jillian has begun to be interested in the potty so I bought her a little one. She’ll sit and play on it but up until this point she hasn’t really let us know when she’s going to go. However tonight we had a breakthrough! While Adrian was giving her a bath she said, “poo poo.” Adrian looked in the tub and for a second mistook a brown bathtub crayon for a floater. When his initial relief wore off he ran into action. He whisked Jillian out of the tub and placed her on the potty. He made her sit there and “go.” Haha. So today she officially pooped in the potty. WHOO! It was so cute though, she was a little embarrassed by it. Adrian called me over to come see and Jillian closed the door on me and said, “no.” We made a big deal of cheering for her and telling her what a good girl she it. I hope she’ll feel more confident next time.

The Aftermath

Today we were on tornado watch. Hahah which is really funny because we live in Southern California. It was the most rain I have ever seen around here! It was so loud that Jillian couldn’t nap! We stood at the window for a long time just watching the rain gush down. There was so much rain that it just looked as if the clouds were pouring out buckets of water. The rain only lasted about 20- 30 minutes and then it became beautiful outside. The sun was shining, the sky was blue, and the clouds were white. If I hadn’t had seen the rain I wouldn’t have believed it had rained with so much force.

When we went downstairs and looked out the backyard we found the evidence of the downpour. Our drains were clogged so the backyard was flooded. The grass area made it looked like we had a marsh in our backyard.

I put Jillian in her rain boots and let her loose. She had the time of her life splashing around. She eventually fell, which was inevitable, but she kept on playing. Once my mom got the drains cleared the water disappeared in minutes.

Glitter, Bling, and Alien Cupcakes

We had a blast on New Year’s Eve.  My good friend Lacey hosted a Glitter and Bling Party!  Everyone wore something sparkly 🙂  Jillian was dressed in a cute little black, white, and silver dress. I even “bedazzled” a tie for Adrian. He was such a good sport about it. That’s one of the things I love about Adrian, he’ll always be okay with being silly!!
